Catherine (Cathy) Burzik is an accomplished senior executive with over 30 years experience in the healthcare industry. Cathy has successfully led major medical device, diagnostic, diagnostic imaging and life sciences businesses. Most recently she served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (NYSE: KCI), a leading medical device company specializing in the fields of wound care and regenerative medicine. Cathy led significant product innovation, expanded the business globally, and diversified the business into regenerative medicine through the $1.7 billion acquisition of LifeCell. Subsequently, KCI was taken private by Apax Partners in late 2011 for $6.1B.

Prior to joining KCI in 2006, Cathy served as President of Applied BioSystems and held senior executive positions at Eastman Kodak, including CEO and President of Kodak Health Imaging Systems, and at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), where she ran the Critikon and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc. global businesses.

 

 

Cathy has extensive public and not-for-profit Board experience, serving as Chair, American College of Wound Healing and Tissue Repair, Becton Dickinson & Company (NYSE: BDX). She is Vice-Chair of the San Antonio Branch of the Dallas Federal Reserve Board, on the Board of Directors of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, and the Board of Trustees of the Keck Graduate School of Applied Life Sciences. Cathy previously served on the Board of Directors of Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX), Bausch and Lomb (NASDAQ: B&L), and Cordis Corporation (NASDAQ:COR).

Cathy’s education includes a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, and a Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Buffalo.
